For those who work in some of the United States, yes, you will be required to be certified with a state-approved alcohol certification course before being allowed to sell or serve alcohol. These states include California, Illinois, Michigan, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. With the other states that do not require certification on a state level, the local ordinance may require it. And, finally, the liability insurance carrier for alcohol sellers and/or serving establishments (restaurants, bars, nightclubs, or liquor stores) will usually require the staff members to be state alcohol certified.
Our state alcohol certification courses teach you how to serve alcohol responsibly. We cover:
The legal responsibilities of a server
Specific state laws that affect you and the customer
How to identify fake IDs and minors who might use them
How to identify an intoxicated customer and intervention techniques when needed
Tips training you on how to cut someone off effectively and politely.
State-specific rules, regulations, and laws regarding the sale and service of alcohol
