Montana’s Cannabis and Alcohol Regulation Division (CARD), part of the state Department of Revenue, has approved the state’s first Spanish-language version of Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service (RASS) training. Until now, every CARD-approved online RASS provider offered the course in English only.
Montana law requires anyone who sells or serves alcohol, at an on-premise or off-premise licensed business, to complete RASS training from a CARD-approved provider. CARD’s current list of approved online providers now includes one offering the course in both English and Spanish, so operators with Spanish-speaking staff have an officially recognized online option rather than having to translate materials themselves or rely on a course that isn’t on CARD’s approved list.
For managers building out onboarding checklists, it’s worth noting that a RASS certificate earned through an approved Spanish-language course carries the same three-year validity as one completed in English, as long as it comes from a CARD-approved provider. If your team completes Montana alcohol server training with Serving Alcohol, certification works the same way: a verifiable certificate valid for three years from an ABCD-approved provider.
