The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has given the certificate issued to certified sellers and servers a new look. TABC updated the design in August 2026 and confirmed the change publicly on September 25, 2026, saying the refresh brings the certificate in line with the agency’s current branding standards.
For bartenders, servers, and cashiers who already hold a TABC-approved seller/server certification, the redesign changes nothing about validity. A certificate earned under the old design remains good for its full two-year term, and some approved training providers may keep issuing certificates in the previous design for a while longer as they transition to the new one. Either version is equally valid proof of certification, and certification itself is still not a statewide legal requirement — though it remains one many Texas employers require before they’ll put someone behind the bar or on the floor.
If a manager or new employer ever questions which design is current, TABC’s Certificate Inquiry System can confirm a certification’s status regardless of which version a server or seller happens to hold. Staff whose two-year certification window is approaching renewal can complete Texas TABC seller/server certification online and expect to receive the current certificate design going forward.
