Since 2007, Serving Alcohol Inc. has offered responsible alcohol training for establishments and professionals in the hospitality industry. We created our online alcohol training and courses to benefit businesses and professionals, including owners, operators, managers, mixologists, bartenders, servers, and security staff nationwide in various markets, such as restaurants, bars, nightclubs, lounges, hotels, entertainment venues, and more. Serving Alcohol provides in-depth, responsible alcohol training for hospitality and service industry members. Our number one goal is to ensure that servers/sellers across the United States serve/sell alcohol responsibly to instill safer communities and save lives.

Each of our team members has had their own unique experience with responsible alcohol serving and selling within the hospitality industry. We know what it's like out there! And we know that educated employees who serve and/or sell alcohol safely are the key ingredients to keeping businesses of all kinds, as well as people, safe.

Our Team

Robert Pomplun is the President and Founder of Serving Alcohol Inc. and its sister company, Loss Control Services Inc. With over 45 years of hospitality experience, Bob has led more than 4,000 live training seminars and consulted for businesses and the legislature. Bob loves to spend time with family and catch up with other hospitality industry members when not working.

Joe Wieloch is Co-Founder and Executive Chairman. He oversees the company's direction and works with the leadership team to keep its training accurate, compliant, and trusted by servers, managers, and businesses nationwide. Joe brings more than 25 years in the learning industry, where he built industry-leading tools for creating and delivering training. That background gives Serving Alcohol a real edge.

When he's not working, you may find him on his motorcycle, boat, or exploring the world with his family.

Chris Strom is our Chief Executive Officer. With over 20 years of experience, he makes major corporate decisions, manages the company's overall operations and resources, and serves as the main point of contact between the board of directors, corporate operations, and state liquor controllers.

When not working, Chris loves baking, trying new recipes, and driving high-performance automobiles.

Tony Marquardt is our Vice President of SEO & Customer Solutions. With over 30 years of computer and networking experience, he's our go-to guy for resolving customer and website issues. He has also been the driving force behind critically resolving SEO issues and web development challenges. Tony Marquardt, from Surprise, AZ, is one of the original founders of Serving Alcohol in 2007 and has been a critical part of shaping the company to this day.

When not working, Tony has been playing guitar professionally for over 30 years.

Tom Johnson is the Manager of Client Solutions for Serving Alcohol, Inc., the leading responsible alcohol training (and food safety) certification provider for restaurants, bars, chain businesses, hotels, retail, entertainment, and municipal facilities and their entire staff.

Johnson holds degrees in web development and design and a master’s degree in information science, bringing both technical expertise and product experience to the team. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, fishing, and golfing.

Daryl Fleary has been an Instructional Designer for over 20 years. He has led our course development team for over 3 years. He has made significant contributions by updating our course material with innovative ideas and incorporating videos. He is also an integral part of our marketing team and a contributor to our blogs.

Luis Praslin - Principal Support Specialist

Luis Praslin has been with our Support Specialist team for over 7 years. He is an integral part of our company. He is not only our principal support specialist, but he has also worked with our marketing team to develop marketing strategies and has helped create courses for many states.

Luis has served in the National Guard for over 5 years and is a proud family man.

 

Darin Lueken is our Principal Software Engineer. He has over 20 years of experience building e-learning tools and systems, and he develops and maintains our e-commerce and learning management systems.

Our History

Loss Control Services, Robert “Bob” Pomplun’s original alcohol training business, was founded in 1985. He specialized in giving live security and alcohol server training seminars in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and North Dakota. Bob has personally taught close to 4,000 live seminars and trained more than 200,000 people throughout the upper Midwest.

Bob is the founder of Serving Alcohol, Inc. and is a key team member. Serving Alcohol was created in 2007 as an alternative to live seminars. We focus on online, state-approved, responsible alcohol training for owners and operators of businesses, as well as professionals (managers, mixologists, bartenders, servers, security, etc.) across the United States in all the key vertical markets. We took Bob's over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry and created responsible alcohol training specific to each state. Your business is covered with his expertise and our ability to work with state liquor commissions. Our alcohol training and certification courses, with Bob’s guidance, have benefited thousands of owners, managers, bartenders, servers, and security staff across the nation. Our alcohol training certification courses will prepare you and/or your staff with knowledge of the most critical component of responsible alcohol service. We regularly add new states and are now in over half of the United States. We also offer training on management and mixology, and through our Business Accounts, we offer a bulk discount to businesses (big and small), hospitality groups, and chains. In addition, we offer Business Accounts a Business Dashboard for tracking progress and downloading certificates.
